Purpose

The Front Yard Recognition program is all about neighbours recognizing neighbours. From about mid-June through mid-August, we encourage people to tell us about front yards that inspire them. All kinds of front yards can and are nominated. The common feature is that someone looked at the yard and said “people need to know I liked their yard.”

The program runs within the boundaries of Sherwood Park and Ardrossan. We divide Sherwood Park into ten areas and, in mid-Au, we choose one yard from each area as well as one from Ardrossan to feature on our Facebook page and website. Each year we get between 500 and 700 yards identified. Our volunteers receive the nominations and one of them visits each nominated yard providing an explanation of the program and sign for their yard.
