About us

The Strathcona in Bloom Society (SIB) is a registered society under the Alberta Societies Act.  SIB is led, guided and directed by a Board composed of citizen volunteers and a representative from Strathcona County.  Our Board meets about 8 times a year to manage the affairs of the Society and prepares annual reports on our activities to Strathcona County and for the Alberta Societies act.

Our Volunteers

SIB operates through the contributions of over 100 volunteers across the community.  Our volunteers plant and maintain flower beds and lead recognition programs for homeowner yards as well as businesses.  Our volunteers participate on our behalf in local community programs such as Arbor Day and Canada Day and in Sherwood Park through the efforts of volunteers, businesses and County staff and by encouraging the efforts of private homeowners.

Our Collaborators

SIB is fortunate to have broad community support for our activities. We are directly financially supported by Strathcona County each year and by donations from others in some years. We have private sponsors for some of the beds that we plant and maintain. Local greenhouses provide a discount to us for the plants we purchase for our community bed planting.
